Alexandre Najjar

Born in Beirut in 1967, Alexandre Najjar is considered as one of the best French writing authors of his generation. Lawyer and editor of the L’Orient Littéraire, he is the author of numerous books which have been translated into several languages. Among them are historical novels, including The Exiles of Caucasus, (Grasset, 1995) and The Story of Beirut, (Plon, 2005), a biography (Khalil Gibran, Pygmalion, 2001) and a novel about the war in Lebanon, The School of War (La Table Ronde, 1999). He has received several literary distinctions, among which are the Literary Prize of Asia in 1999 and the Bourse de l’Ecrivain awarded by the Hachette Foundation.
